Mini-Spy-Shots-Main-ArtThe next-generation Mini hatchback will soon be revealed but the vehicle’s debut reminds us that’s something’s missing. What about the convertible version of the iconic car? Well it’s getting reworked as well and our spy photographers have caught it out and about.

They managed to snap some pictures of a couple Mini Cooper S convertibles in Munich, Germany. One of the cars photographed was on the back of a flat-bed truck.

Apparently the new cars are codenamed F57 and are built atop BMW’s latest front-wheel-drive architecture. The platform is known as UKL and supposedly it will be shared with the brand-new 1 Series GT. Electronically adjustable dampers are rumored to be part of the package as well.

Under the hood Mini Cooper S models should feature a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It’s expected this powerplant will deliver 189 ponies and 207 lb-ft of torque. Standard Minis will feature a blown, 1.5-liter three-banger with a more pedestrian 134 horsepower, though torque is pretty nice at 162 lb-ft.

Look for all versions to feature start-stop technology, direct fuel injection and six-speed transmissions. The car is set to debut in 2015.
